Purpose: The healing circle is a great way for people who feel weak in the group for any reason to be strengthened by those close to them.

Size: Any size group

Requirements: To begin, there needs to be a ceremony leader who knows the process and everyone present joins hands in one big circle.

Process:

1. "This is the Healing Circle, it represents 360° of unity. It serves both offensive and defensive purposes. Offensively, if anything should come and attack us, we can put it in the middle and stomp it out (Everyone puts their right foot in the middle and stomps as if putting out a cigarette bud). Defensively, I got ________’s (person across from you) back and _______ (person across from you) has mine. If at any time you are feeling weak, get in the middle of the circle, without breaking the link (as in connect the hands of the two people next to you behind your back before letting go and stepping in). At this time, I am going to ask anyone in our community that is feeling weak to please step inside the Healing Circle so that they may be healed through the love and energy in this room."

2. Allow time for people to choose to step inside.

3. "To the brothers and sisters in and outside the circle, this is a space to speak positive affirmations to members inside the circle, reminding them of their divine perfect self as you have experienced them."

4. People will begin to affirm the weak people inside the circle. Allow up to a minute between affirmations before moving on.

5. "To close the circle, we will ask everyone to rejoin the circle."

6. Wait a minute for the weak to rejoin.

7. "We’re going to put or right foot forward to symbolize a step in the right direction and on the count of three we're going to call on the highest power there is and say "Love". One...Two...Three....Love!"

8. Hug. Heal. And be happy.

A good friend of mine, Heidy Chong, recently produced a DVD called Real People Cook (www.realpeoplecook.com) where she features 17 Stanford students preparing their favorite healthy dish. (You've got to try the jalepeno pizza with nuts and dates!) Forget bi-racial; Heidy is tri-cultural (Mexian + Chinese + American) and she believes that her purpose is to unite people of all cultures through food. Without any background in Final Cut, she self-produced and self-financed the video in less than a month.

During a 3 hour conversation with Heidy last night, Heidy said that "More people have come up to me and said how much they were inspired by my commitment and passion than have actually bought or watched the DVD." The question "What's the true final product?" immediately popped into my mind. Is it the DVD itself? or is it Heidy?

Oftentimes when we create something (ie. produce a film, write an essay, organize an event, cook a meal, paint a picture, etc) or manifest an idea, we think about that which we've created as the final product. However, I've discovered that if the creation process was truly meaningful and challenging, then it is actually the creator (you) that actually gets shaped by the process. Therefore, you are also a product of the creation process, which is life.

When we hear "S/he was just a product of their environment," that implies that someone allowed the world to shape who they are by not adding to the creation process. Heidy is one of many examples of someone who by initiating her own creation process through the production of the Real People Cook DVD has:

1. helped shape the world by creating a material product, the DVD, while simultaneously
2. shaping herself through the process of creating the DVD as she seeks to reach her fullest potential, which is the final product of herself (or divine self).

All in all, the process of creation shapes the creator as much as the creator shapes the creation. So know in advance that you will be transformed through the manifestation of your ideas for the final product of all creation is you at your full potential.

Maslow had it all wrong. His hierarchy of needs suggest that we must advance through the levels of physiological, safety, social, and ego in order to even consider self-actualization. That is false. Does not even the poorest of the poor contemplate their purpose? Self-actualization is not something restricted to the rich. As a matter of fact, it is our pursuit of the lower four levels that ultimately prevents us actualizing our full self! Many work so hard in search of security and social acceptance that by the time they retire, they have no energy left to contemplate who they could have been.

The higher always includes the lower. If you have a gold membership at a health club, you get all of the privileges of the silver and bronze members. Therefore, we should seek self-actualization first, and everything below it will come. Consider all of the people who have had huge impact on the world - Gandhi, King, Jesus, Mother Theresa, etc. By seeking self-actualization first, everything below came to them. Did you know that today, the Nobel Prize comes with a cash grant of of $1.4 million? The ironic thing is that none of these enlightened beings were seeking a monetary prize, security, or to fulfill their own ego. They all recognized that their eternal reward was spiritual.

May we all flip our pyramids upside down and make certain that we are seeking the highest reward first and not the lowest reward because it is first. The higher always includes the lower.

"But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." - Matthew 6:33

For those of you in search of purpose, look no further than within yourselves. Here are 13 questions (that only you can answer) which can help you create a purpose statement for your life. Your purpose is not a destination; it is more of a guiding compass that helps you make decisions. Our ultimate destination will be determined by the small decisions we make every day, therefore, it is important to make sure that our choices are in line with where we want to go. Take a moment to answer these questions for yourself and see what you come up with.

1. Person: What do I value? Who do I want to be?
2. Passions: What do I love doing and why?
3. Problems: What social, science, technical, and/or personal question do I want to answer?
4. People: Who do I want to serve?
5. Place: Where do I want to impact?
6. Pain: What am I trying to heal or positively impact?

Note: The 13Ps have been consolidated to the 8Ps of Purpose.

Success is not predestined; it is created. And the creation process always requires four elements:

1. Creator, the source
2. Creativity, the energy or inspiration
3. Creation, the process
4. Creature, the product or form

1. There are two creator; The Creator and the creator (you). The Creator made us in Its image therefore, we are also creators. The Creator creates through us and creation is never ending (meaning it is still going). Creativity flows through us to the extent that we are aware of these truths.

2. The Creator cannot work through the creator (you) using creativity until the creator (you) recognizes that all ideas are divinely inspired by The Creator and have been entrusted to the the creator (you) on behalf of The Creator. This definitely brings up intellectual property issues. Who gets the credit? If you've ever watched the Grammy Award or Oscars, usually The Creator is the first to be acknowledged.

3. Creation is the process by which the idea or thought becomes manifest in its form or creature. This process requires more and more creativity and continuous connection with The Creator. In the English language, sometimes we interchange the word creation (the process) as the word for the product or form (ie "Look at my creation"). It is true that the creature (the form), has the other three elements within it, but we must be clear. Creation (the process) and creature (the form) are connected but different.

4. Finally, there is the creature. The creature is the manifested idea in a form that anyone with eyes can see and believe in. Very few people believe before this stage; they are like weeds out to kill your seed. But give thanks to all those who believe in The Creator, the creator (you), and the certainty of the creation process before the creature is formed. They are like fellow farmers who saw the abundant crop as you were planting the seeds underground and tilling the land. It is your belief in the idea that moves the idea through the creation process to point where it transitions from being invisible to visible. Somehow, perhaps cartoons, we got a sinister idea of the word creature. According to Dictionary.com, creature simply means:

1. Something created.
a. A living being, especially an animal: land creatures; microscopic creatures
b. A human.
c. An imaginary or fantastical being: mythological creatures; a creature from outer space.
2. One dependent on or subservient to another.

The suffix -ure means a body performing a function (ie legislature or fixture). This means that the creature is the encapsulation of The Creator, the creator, the creativity, and the creation. Only good intention creator can connect with The Good Intentioned Creator and use creativity and the creation process in a good way to create a good creature.

The four elements of success are universal. They apply to all equally. Let us keep writing the creation story with each inkling of creativity we have for story will go on as long as we keep co-creating it together. I wish you much success in all that you have done, are doing, and will do. I am a fellow farmer.
